The project involved the installation of five high-quality extraction canopies, strategically positioned to cover all critical cooking and preparation areas. These canopies are designed to efficiently capture and eliminate airborne contaminants, such as smoke, grease, and combustion products, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.

Ductwork Specifications

A critical component of this installation was the comprehensive ductwork system, totalling approximately 130 metres in length. This system comprised a mixture of galvanised and fire-rated ducts, carefully selected and installed to optimize airflow and fire safety. The galvanised ducts offer durability, ideal for the less intense sections of the system, while the fire-rated ducts provide added protection in high-risk areas, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.

Extraction and Supply Air Systems

The full extraction system is designed to efficiently remove contaminated air from the kitchen, while the complementary supply air system introduces fresh, filtered air, maintaining a balanced and comfortable environment. This dual approach ensures not only the removal of hazardous substances but also the circulation of clean air, crucial for both comfort and hygiene.

Heating Solution

To address the challenge of maintaining optimal temperature levels, especially during the colder months, an electric heater battery was integrated into the supply air system. This heater battery is capable of warming the incoming air, ensuring that the kitchen remains at a comfortable temperature for staff, without compromising the efficiency of the ventilation system.

This comprehensive project was valued at £95,000.00, reflecting the quality of the materials, the complexity of the design, and the professional installation. At the heart of Shoreditch’s vibrant culinary scene, Smoking Goat stands out as a beacon of Thai barbecue excellence. This Thai Barbecue Bar, nestled on Redchurch Street, is celebrated for its unique blend of Cornish meats and fish infused with rich Thai flavours, offering an unforgettable dining experience.

The atmospheric setting across three floors demands an environment where the aromas of exotic spices and char-grilled delights enhance rather than overpower the ambiance. This is where Nationwide Ventilation stepped in, bringing our expertise to the forefront.

Faced with the challenge of maintaining the aromatic balance while adhering to health and safety standards, Nationwide Ventilation was tasked with a complex installation that not only required technical precision but also a deep understanding of the unique architectural layout of Smoking Goat. The solution involved the strategic installation of four high-efficiency canopies across the restaurant’s three levels, ensuring optimal odour control and ventilation.

The project’s complexity was amplified by the need to navigate the restaurant’s internal lightwell for the extraction ductwork, stretching from the kitchen spaces to the rooftop. This required meticulous planning and the construction of scaffolding within the confined spaces of the lightwell, a challenge readily accepted and adeptly managed by our experienced installation teams.

The result of this installation

Nothing short of transformative! The advanced odour control and ventilation system ensure that the rich, smoky flavours characteristic of Thai barbecue remain a delight to the senses without overwhelming the dining space. This has enabled Smoking Goat to continue providing an immersive culinary experience while meeting all health and safety regulations, further cementing its reputation as a standout destination in London’s competitive dining landscape.
